Last week, we read a cute little poem called “The Chubby Snowman.” I am not sure who wrote it but it is perfect for Kindergarteners and preschoolers.

A chubby little snowman
Had a carrot nose.
Along came a rabbit
And what do you suppose?

That hungry little bunny,
Looking for his lunch,
ATE the snowman’s carrot nose…….
Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!

We read the poem together. Then I had Hannah rewrite the poem to practice handwriting. She then read the poem to her dad. Hannah did a great job reading the poem with inflection, especially the last line. It was too cute!

To go along with the poem, we tried out puffy paint. To make the paint, I mixed {about} equal parts of shaving foam and Elmer’s glue until it had a thick consistency. Once, the paint dries, it is puffy. We found it worked best to really paint it on thick. That way it stay puffy even after it had dried. Hannah used the paint to make the snowman.┬áBefore the paint dried, she sprinkled on a little white glitter so her snowman sparkled!

This turned out to be a favorite activity for Olivia. She did not want to stop painting! puffy paint snowman puffy paint snowman puffy paint snowmanAfter the paint dried, Hannah added the accessories to her snowman making sure he had his carrot nose!
